Park Description

  • Msinsi Albert Falls Dam & Game Reserve
  • Msinsi Bon Accorde Resort

Tucked away just 15 km from Durban’s new King Shaka International Airport and 40 km north of Durban city centre, you’ll discover the tranquillity of one of the north coast’s hidden treasures, Hazelmere Dam and Resort.

Msinsi Resorts and Game Reserve is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Umgeni Water formed by Dr Ian Player in 1992, under the auspices of the Wilderness Foundations. Msinsi began its operations at Shongweni Dam and Game Reserve and later expanded its operations to Albert Falls, Inanda, Nagle and Hazelmere Dams.

Just a couple of kilometres beyond the Durban suburb of Hillcrest, within the Valley of a Thousand Hills, you can drive straight into South Africa sporting and viewing history at Inanda Dam and Resort. This spot has become legendary as the compulsory second overnight stop on the Dusi Canoe Marathon, a thrilling fixture here for six good decades.

Inanda Dam & Resort, formerly known as Mahlabathini Park is a 30 ha park situated along the Southern shores of Inanda Dam in the Kwangcolosi area.

It was originally called Peninsular Park in its concept form. At the opening of the Resort in 1995, Nkosi Bhengu requested that we use Mahlabathini as the name for the resort. Mahlabathini means “place of sand”. This then changed to Inanda Resources Reserve which eventually became Inanda Dam & Resort.

Guarded by the mystical splendour of KZN’s Table Mountain, cupped in the Valley of a Thousand Hills, lies Nagle Dam and Game Reserve. This is African thornveld country, the reserve’s memorable nature trails leading you through bush studded by the joys of seasonal flowers.

Nagle Dam is situated Cato Ridge below KwaZulu Natal’s own Table Mountain. The reserve is easily accessible from both Durban and Pietermaritzburg directions via the Table Mountain road or Nagle Dam/ Abattoir road.
