Attitude Is Everything!
Our school motto is “Attitude is Everything!” and this is the work ethos that we instil in our students, which is one of the reasons our students are highly sought after by top chefs. Our graduates are capable, confident young chefs who are practised in their art and find success based on their can-do attitude.
Beautiful Botha’s Hill has been home to the aptly named 1000 Hills Chef School since 2004. The school delivers world-class training in kitchens, not classrooms, to passionate young chefs serious about pursuing a culinary career.
Dedicated to making students the best they can be, the school has a reputation for excellence and students have won many industry competitions. Graduates secure placements internationally and can be found in leading positions at South Africa’s top restaurants and hotels.
A highlight of this practical approach to training is the on-site gourmet restaurant and bistro-style deli, where students prepare meals for guests. This sets the standard for their skill set – they must cook for paying customers, and deal with the pressures of a real-world environment. On the first Thursday of each month diners can enjoy a gourmet dinner of five courses, paired with wines. The Yes Chef Deli is open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from February to mid-December for breakfasts, lunches and craft brewery tours. Well worth a visit!
