Fort Nongqayi Museum Village

The Fort Nongqayi Museum Village is situated in Eshowe, a picturesque town in Northern KwaZulu Natal.
The Museum Village comprises the following attractions:

Fort Nongqayi:
A British built Fort completed in 1883 with the purpose of housing the Nongqayi Police Force. Historical displays on the Zulu kings, John Dunn (the famous white chief), the Anglo Zulu War and the natural history of the area can be seen here.

The Fort Nongqayi Museum Chapel:
The chapel documents the Norwegian Missionary presence in Zululand dating back to 1844.

The Vukani Cultural Museum:
In this section, visitors can view a stunning collection of traditional Zulu artefacts (historical and contemporary).

Opening hours are Mon to Thurs 0:7:30 – 16:00; Fri 07:30 -15:00 and Sat – Sun 08:30-15:00.
