The Hidden Forest

Located just 16kms from exit 222 of the N2 in the Dolphin Coast, The Hidden Forest Wildlife Sanctuary is the largest free-roaming multi-species primate sanctuary in Africa and a must-do outing the whole family will love.

Your adventure starts with a short drive on an open-top vehicle past lush sugar cane fields to the “hidden forest”. Then you will head into the stunning 23-hectare indigenous forest on a guided walking safari, a truly unique and unforgettable experience. You might see ringtailed lemurs soaking up the sun or capuchins and squirrel monkeys foraging for insects; maybe you’ll hear the call of the black howler monkey, the loudest land mammal in the world. The “hidden forest” is also naturally home to a wide range of indigenous wildlife so maybe you’ll also spot a natal duiker, bush buck or banded mongoose on your forest adventure.

The sanctuary has a strict no-touching policy; this ensures the animals in their care don’t feel threatened by the presence of visitors and don’t have to perform for them either – a truly safe place for these animals to live as natural a life as possible.
